Providing spa retreats for women with cancer and their girlfriends
Refresh, restore, rejuvenate!
Many are the plans of a man's heart, but the Lord's purpose will prevail.
A Note from Leslie Cameron
My sister, Elizabeth Faust, died of brain cancer in 2002. One thing my sister taught me is to celebrate life - however long it may be. During Liz's illness, she always had wonderful friends to help her with her battle. These friendships brought joy and laughter, hope and strength. In May of 2002, Liz and I hosted a Silent Auction for a few of the friends who had given her so much support. We gave them pedicures, manicures, and hired a massage therapist to give the girls massages. We had door prizes and gift baskets for every guest. It was a night of pampering, laughter, good food, and a celebration of Liz's life.
After I saw how special this evening was to Liz and her girlfriends, I started wondering if there was a way to do this for other women. My neighbor and friend, Shara Aycock, joined with me in this vision, and in June 2003, Confetti Celebrations was born. The mission of Confetti Celebrations is to provide a weekend spa retreat for women with cancer and their girlfriends, and it has continued with the help of Amber, Maria and Barbara.
Barbara has been married to Don for 39 years and they have one grown daughter Petra and two granddaughters (Molly & Kacie). Barbara also has three step daughters and eight grandchildren by them. She has worked with USMotivation for 15 years and free lanced for them for 17 years prior. Barbara became involved with Confetti Celebrations in 2003 as a guest at the very first retreat. USMotivation has graciously donated to Confetti Celebrations in various ways since 2004.
Leslie has just celebrated her 15th anniversary with her wonderful husband Andy. They live in Sugar Hill, Georgia with their three children, Chase, Brandt and Addison and their crazy dog, Jessie. Her time is spent in caring for her family, cheering on sports events, running and exercising, and volunteering in their community and the cancer community. Leslie's heart’s passion is Confetti Celebration. She loves each and every retreat she gets to experience! Leslie looks forward to greeting you as you join us on the next Confetti retreat!
Amber has been married to her high school sweetheart and best friend, Todd Smith, for 17 years. She lives in Sugar Hill, Georgia with her two bright & handsome sons, Trotter (13) and Ethan (10), and their 1 ½ year old Labradoodle, Crockett. They love spending time together watching and playing football, basketball, baseball, tennis and golf. Amber's most important job is MOM. She also works part-time out of the house. When Amber is not with her family, she loves spending time with her girlfriends. Amber treasures her weekends with Confetti!
Maria, along with her husband of 28 years, Charles, is a
co-owner of Lamia & Lamia Salon & Day Spa in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. She has been a stylist for over 30 years. She is the mother of 3 grown daughters (Mia, Nina, and Katherine) and resides in Clinton Twp., Michigan. Maria first got involved with Confetti Celebrations in 2005 through Barbara Nindos, the best friend of Maria’s sister Rosann, who battled cancer. Maria, along with her family, friends and salon clientele, has contributed generously each year.
Maria is very proud and honored to be a part of confetti celebrations!
Leslie Cameron and Shara Aycock, friends and neighbors, created Confetti Celebrations, Inc. in June of 2003. Shara, a native Floridian moved to Georgia in 2001 with her husband and daughter. Shara served at the spa party Leslie had for her sister, Liz and her girlfriends. Leslie and Shara realized how special this party was for Liz and her friends that they desired to provide this opportunity to other women with cancer.
Shara served many years developing Confetti and now plays an important role as an Advisor and works at North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, Georgia in event planning.
